It's very well done and doesn't dwell on the "zombies" as much as relationships between characters. Everyone has their own tolerances, and it's really up to your preferences on whether you'll enjoy it. I'd say give it a try to episode 3.
I say episode 3 because that's the episode that sold me on the show.
