'On Monday, Karen Tumulty, ...wrote that “Harris’ smartest selection would be Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona.”
CNN’s Washington correspondent Jamie Gangel said the Harris team had given her names. Gangel then mentioned first and talked up, Kelly, “who I am told (Harris) likes a lot, knows very well, and as we saw, he has already come out to endorse her publicly. That happened very quickly, and I know their camps speak to each other quite often.”' #politics
@Fellixe I'm pulling for him! I think he fills holes that others don't and doesn't leave any gaping holes behind in Az.
@TrueBloodNet Yes. I'm interested in who would take his seat. Hopefully not Hobbs. AZ has too long a history of (D) governor's not finishing their terms. AZ Central had a story of likely choices but it was paywalled.
FWIW, I also think Kelly would be the best choice. Veteran, astronaut, male and white (sorry, folks, this is politics and we have to appease those who are uncomfortable with a Black woman President).
He is a strong, capable speaker on a variety of subjects — he hits all the boxes and then some.
Will be hard to question her picking him and even worse to attack him (“what? You don’t like veterans?”)
He would bring a lot to the table.

Mark Kelly is particularly proud of his mother, who grew up in the Bronx to become the first woman to pass the physical at the West Orange Police Department. Soon after, she became its first woman officer.
And she kept that habit of being first, West Orange police chief James Abbott told NJ.com in 2012. “She would be the first one through the door. She wasn’t afraid of anything. She’d be the first one in and she always had your back.”'
