I donate to ppl caring for stray cats and there are a fair number of scams associated with this. These scams are extremely low effort though, and can often be discovered with a simple reverse image search. If they're producing original content - unique pictures of them caring for cats - that's almost certainly legit and not a scam.

Normally I give directly to individuals. You can get incredible value for your charity by directly giving to say, a depressed 20-something living in a developing nation taking care of all her town's stray cats. There are individuals all over the world taking on massive animal welfare responsibilities and 50$ is a huge deal for them.
