I'm an MMO player now, but my ex and I were super early webfans of Baldur's Gate. Subscribed to your channel for the nostalgia.
Our old site, courtesy of the Wayback Machine - have a giggle at 1999 game sites - yes, THE Baldur's Gate Top Ten #1 site. 🤣
OMG, I was so freaking filled with hyperbole! (edit as I cruise digital history)

Fun Ancient History - Netscape was essentially done one year later.

@Cosmichomicide This is really cool. Back in the day when gaming sites owned like this. I am so glad you shown me this.
That's actually built with (I think) FrontPage with a bunch of fiddling. It was so awesome not to have to manually build everything in a text editor and try to get the graphics and frames right, LOL!
In 1999, there were about 3 million websites. Total.
Which seems like a lot, but I remember drinking in celebration with said ex-husband when the total number of sites reached 2K. Total.
All that growth? Took about 5 years, give or take.
It was a wild ride. 🏎️

Holy shit, we were so damned young. Just like the interwebz, really.
"And from the self-congratulation department, we would like to give a big "aw, shucks" with the requisite toe scuffing for winning the Orcus Imperious Content award, and a "Wow! I guess we're doing something right after all" for receiving a Netscape Open Directory "Cool Site" award. Thanks all!"
Netscape Open Directory "Cool Site". Yeah, it was a thing for us dinosaurs. 🤓
