This has been reported, in various forms, on the Ring forums, Reddit, etc. for years - for Amazon, FedEx, USPS, UPS, etc.
It feels less related to anything malicious as the general unreliability of un-wired signals and the fact all the package services carry scanning devices.
I have a Gen1 Ring and it's a great video doorbell. As a security or package cam? Eh, hit or miss.
Now, about privacy and security - EFF has a LOT to say about Ring - https://www.eff.org/search/site/ring

Anyone looking for a security device is probably better off going with a more expensive closed circuit system.
I love my Ring, but I have it purely because we never use the front door, hardwiring is not an option (old house) and I like to screen the cookie sellers (bring 'em on) from the Witnesses.
Oh and I like to laugh at the folks on Neighbors convinced everything is gunfire. 🤣
