@TheresaVermont 11 cups of water per day for an adult is an approximate. Then 8 ounces per cup.

Just the benefits of hydration. For optimal cognitive and body performance.

The amount can vary based on a lot of factors, one important one being the water content of the food you eat. The water content in fruits/vegetables counts toward the "water" intake. So if you eat more meat/grains, you should consider drinking more water.
Then consider the humidity, your exercise/activity, medicines and alcohol... spreading it out gradually throughout the day seems like the best way to stay hydrated.

8 glasses of fluids per day is actually the recommended amount. Fluids includes milk, juice, ice cream, soup, etc. But not alcohol or high caffeine drinks. My mother nearly died from drinking too much water. Her blood sodium level was so low she had seizures. Moderation in all things, even water.
@CinnamonGirlE But why is that the value? What benefit?
