LIke comfort foods, I have comfort books. Regardless how many new books in the proverbial pile are waiting, sometimes I just have to crawl back into the pages of a book previously read. Doesn't even matter if the pages are loose from the binding after the years of many rereads. Some books I have read over ten times.

Anyone else guilty of this?

@ChippySuave
Oh yes... Me...
But I don’t feel the least bit guilty.
I have a small shelf dedicated to such books.

@ChippySuave totally, I've read Gone With the Wind about 20 times now!

@ChippySuave

My hubby just does not understand the concept of rereading a book.

I don't understand the concept of not rereading a fav book!

I've read many books at least 5/6/7 times❤️ It may be several years before I open up a fav book again, but it's like visiting with an old friend when I do:)

@Not_your_average_granny @ChippySuave Plus if it is a really well written book you will discover new things in it.

@ChippySuave

Of course I have comfort books, which get read over and over again:

1) The collected works of Jane Austen (minus Northanger Abby);

2) All the Harry Potter books (currently am re-reading and am in the middle of "The Half-Blood Prince") because we have Death Eaters in the WH;

2) Anything by Bill Bryson, from his travel books to his English language books, to "The Brief History of Almost Everything"...

Plus other books but I'm out of characters.

@ChippySuave Yep. Currently re-"reading" the Harry Potter books, my first complete re-read since the series was completed, which has been like taking a long bath in familiarity.

Opted for audiobook-read-by-Stephen-Fry form to pace myself. I'm guilty of devouring books and missing all the fine points.

@ChippySuave My other "comfort" series is Melanie Rawn's Exiles trilogy, as yet unfinished. I remain hopeful it will be finished...

@ChippySuave Absolutely! And often, I’ll go through just to read favorite sections. Like bingeing a show and ff to my favorite scenes.

@ChippySuave Yes, and it’s usually Terry Pratchett books. I’m in the middle of Hogfather right now, which I reread every December. He’s my literary mood-elevator.

@ChippySuave

I love that so many of us do this!!!

Awesome reponses:)

Well except for @CorreroM 😂😂

@ChippySuave I have books that simply MUST be in my line of sight at all times when I am in my office or home. It's just not right otherwise!

@ChippySuave Revisiting a book is like catching up with an old friend. There are some books that fit my soul like a well broken in pair of jeans. I even have a few from my childhood that I revisit on occasion... Black Beauty, Where the Red Fern Grows, Anne of Green Gables.

@ChippySuave I have what I call "Decade Books". The ones that need to be revisited for each new decade of your life:

Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
Candide.
Walden.
The Alchemist.

Each new decade can bring a completely new perspective and meaning to Decade Books. And when you find one of those, you treasure it. It'll be the best teacher you're ever likely to have.
