Helene floods wipe out Asheville River Arts District businesses: 'Completely destroyed'

There are no words. Except gratitude that all I know/love are safe.
Makes me want to fill my van with 5 gallon bottles of water & head south.
No toilets or drinking water. Boil warning, but no power. Water shut off in many areas. There was a fair amount of bottled water but you had to be able to get to it.
We stayed at the BP because the owner came in and opened up for cash, so we had water, food (sorta) and such. The Ingalls were giving away their perishables, but they were out pretty fast.
No real way to get trucks in ATM. 😕
No gouging that we experienced, BTW. Asheville has really pulled together.
@Bix we are just starting to get roads in Vermont fixed from flooding last summer. People vastly underestimate recovery effort needed. And FEMA doesn’t replace not having insurance.
More tears. You can’t imagine the magnificent art lost from this area. 💫
@Bix this is so sad.
but i suspect it still won't stop the oil/gas industry from expanding & making this more common & much worse. there's too much denial of consequences here
