I was having a fairly good experience on Threads. Growing my following, getting engagement on my art. Then I posted too many links, especially to TikTok and it has rendered that platform unusable. It doesn’t show my posts to anyone anymore.

@BipolarArtist There's legislation that has passed the house and is on the way to the senate that requires Tik-Tok to divest from ownership by the Chinese government or be banned from the states. I don't know how it will fly in the senate, but apparently there's a lot of concern about dis-information and the fact that it's data scraping tech.

@Lindy yeah I have been following along. It has been one of the few platforms that has been showing my content to people. I know it’s a risk but we have to make decisions and take some risks when we try to put ourselves out into the world.

@BipolarArtist According to what I heard this morning, the tech can monitor every key stroke...so if you use your phone for banking, medical stuff, etc. They can know all your passwords and such. I've never used Tik-Tok but my grandchildren do, and it concerns me. They use their phones for everything.

@Lindy yeah. I have heard conflicting reports of how they actually use that data. I’m going to have a rethink about everything. I have got a lot of engagement on TikTok, but in thinking about it a little more clearly, it hasn’t led to any sales or engagement outside of the platform. So maybe it is a waste of time. I’ve deleted every social media app off my phone except for , reddit and Facebook. I would have deleted facebook too but I have to stay in touch with family.
