@Anouk I am in red South Dakota. I had hoped this year with marijuana and abortion on the ballot that it might actually turn blue, but I was sorely mistaken. My candidate in my district only got 12% of the vote.
@Astartiel
12%??? Omg that’s just depressing af
@Anouk Especially considering this district usually isn't that divided. 🤷🏻♀️
@Astartiel @Anouk
My s. Colorado county voted 56% for trumP in 2020.
61% this year.
@zenmudprod @Astartiel
It’s astounding.
And deep blue spots across the country saw an increase in Trump support.
@Anouk @zenmudprod Make THAT make sense!
I truly believe the USA will never get beyond the vestiges of slavery here.
And with what is going in MD with people getting messages about slavery, we are about to dig that hole much, much, much deeper.
@zenmudprod @Astartiel @Anouk
The current estimate I have seen is 64.5 % of eligible voters voted. That means about 87m did not vote. The % is down from 2020 estimate of 67%.
All this means a lot of people did not see this election to be as important as I did.
@pkatlga23 @zenmudprod @Astartiel @Anouk and a lot of them were Dems
@GinaE1973 @pkatlga23 @zenmudprod @Anouk And it makes no sense that so many millions of Democrats would choose to not vote for Harris, considering they knew Trumpf was running again.
@Astartiel @pkatlga23 @zenmudprod @Anouk petty? They didn’t like the way she became the candidate?
@Astartiel @pkatlga23 @zenmudprod @Anouk let’s talk about apathy…distraction…programming… what are those electronics doing to peoples minds?
@GinaE1973 @Astartiel @pkatlga23 @Anouk
Or is it pure racism?
I remember scathing 2016 attacks, because:
"12 percent of Sanders supporters voted for trumP!"
So I "did my own research" and found that in 2008:
"22% of HRC voters voted for McCain!"
=====
Tuesday?
Some 28% of white women, and 24(?)% of white men voted for Harris.
There's still a poison in this country, of "fearing those who don't look like me" (imo).
@zenmudprod @GinaE1973 @Astartiel @Anouk
It is many factors from what I hear from Trump voters.
The economy, inflation, need for a strong leader, and of course racism/misogyny even when they don't think they are either.
But mostly I fear it is the willingness to believe lies they want to believe, and this is the hardest to counteract.
@Astartiel @Anouk I’m coming!
@Astartiel
I’m in fairly blue Pittsburgh, now red Pennsylvania. It’s iffy. The next 4 yrs could turn us blue again.
New England is too fucking expensive.
