@Apocryphiliac House (1977) is just so damn strange and fun. It's like a pop record that's so far outside of what you normally listen to that you can't really explain why you enjoy it so much.
I'm just now realizing though that I actually haven't seen that much Japanese horror. I've seen a ton of Korean, Hong Kong, and Indonesian horror but for some reason I've seen way more straight drama from Japan. Gonna have to work on that.
I so want to see this! Just curious is it fun and not too disturbing for a tween or preteen?
@TheAbbotTrithemius I don't think it's very disturbing. It's weird as fuck, and yeah there is a little bit of nudity, but it's not sexualized, imo. More like incidental. Would probably be fine for a teenager. By the way, we watched it on my Discord server some months ago. :) @deadweirdo
@TheAbbotTrithemius Hausu was a pretty big hit. Nobody ever watches that movie for the first time and isn't surprised by it. Yet it has more going for it than sheer weirdness and absurdity. It's definitely got a distinctive pop-art/fairytale sensibility that was extremely influential in Japan. @deadweirdo
