Afternoon/evening 🙂 Just popping in to give an update. Using a motorised standing frame they got me standing up today - however - I hadn't done that since the 8th of June so after 8 minutes I became DIY due ti my blood pressure and feinted lol The next attempt will be with a tilt table lol I'll repeat I am fine.

My physio told my husband I had passed away (she meant passed out) 🤣 we all laughed 😆

@Heucuva8 not for babies! crying is their only means of communication. i would never let a baby 'cry it out'. i pay put them down for a couple of mins while they cry so i can go to the bathroom & take a minute to compose myself. but i'm going to try and comfort them as best i can. i can't imagine not trying to comfort a crying baby. even one that's not my own.

crying it out sounds cruel.

If you can't hear the difference between a "I am mad cry" and "I am hurt cry", then as a parent you have not been paying attention.

For the "I am mad" cry:
I used to sit down on the floor a few feet away, not facing the child and open a book and quietly read.

For the "I am hurt" cry:
Pick them up, check for bodily harm, and continue to hold them. Give them your undivided attention.

The closest I came to getting a caning was the threat; never actually struck. We’ve never hit our kids and I even dropped the threat part. They’re amazing, intelligent, empathetic, contributing members of society.

Hell, I don’t ever hit our *dog*. And he’s as equally well-behaved.

There are other ways to reinforce good behaviour. They take longer, are more complicated, but they’re infinitely better over the long term.
