In Germany 1930s, few supported Hitler, but the majority stayed quiet. As the GOP takes control of the house, we, you and I, cannot afford to be silent. We are: "We The People."

@zacnewman

If dems really wanted to make the crazy's irrelevant, they'ld team up with the moderates and make mccarthy irrelevant

@CdnChrisCo @zacnewman The R "moderates" are fully behind McCarthy. They're not actually very moderate.

@zacnewman Although I fully endorse your point about not staying silent, support for the Nazis in Germany was pretty high by 1933. The final real election had them by far the largest party (44% of the vote), and it's highly likely Hitler had majority support after taking power (though elections were no longer real).

@RationalLeft Hitler received 36% of the vote in 1932. IN 1928 the Nazi's received 3% of the vote. So their vote was increasing, but still a minority.

@zacnewman The Nazis had 33% in November '32, after Hitler got 36.8% in the presidential race against Hindenburg that April.
