The man behind Nagra

Stefan Kudelski was the inventor of the first professional-quality portable tape recorder, which revolutionized Hollywood moviemaking and vastly expanded the reach of documentarians, independent filmmakers and eavesdroppers on both sides in the Cold War.

Legendary.

I wish the company was still making recording equipment. They now only maintain their audiophile products.

@voltronic

did you ever work with the JVC KD-2 or CD-1636? They were decent field recorders in the late 70s. Not quite Nagra level, but sturdy. I liked their performance better than the Superscope and Marantz offerings.

Nope. Superscope and Marantz, yes, a few times. Their cassette and CD field recorders.
