@voltronic I downloaded a sample flac file from the internet, and played it on my iPhone now. Had to copy it to my nextcloud server in order to get it over the phone, but it seems to work over here.

Woah since when? I had to jump through all kinds of hoops to convert a bunch of DOOM Eternal OST FLACs to mp3 so I could play them with the music app instead of having to dick around with VLC’s app
