This may be the beauty you need right now. I have cried more than once listening to this.

Did you know Barber made a choral version of it set to the Agnus Dei text?
I'm at MY choir practice right now, so I don't have time to look up my favorite version - look for a performance by the Robert Shaw Festival Singers.
I'll post it later if I can locate it.
i'll look--thanks again.
yay Telarc.
@northernbassist
Ah, a fellow Telarc devotée. Many of my favorite recordings are on that label. They are the reason I discovered Schoeps and B&K (now DPA) mics, among other things.
used to sell gear to the classical folk using things like their 'Pictures At An Exhibition' and their '1812' was the one that used real cannon. they were sort of digital pioneers. and it always sounded great.
@northernbassist
I have heard the 1812 Overture album you're talking about. That was one of their first that came with warning labels.
All of the Erich Kunzel Cincinnati Pops movie music albums they did are amazing. Fantasy Adventure Album being my favorite.
@voltronic this is the one i chose.
@voltronic
thanks for posting this. really wonderful. imo, the vocal counterpart to Barber's Adagio.
