I find it even harder to believe that Telemann was a tremendously popular composer during JS Bach's day.
Ironically, Mendelssohn was also not widely appreciated until long after his death. I still consider him one of the most underrated composers.

@voltronic I find it so hard to believe that Bach had been pretty much forgotten by the 19th century.
