Didn't realize Lin was involved with Encanto until after watching it, though. Kinda prefer it that way; no expectations.

Maybe I need to go listen to the music on its own again. Being a choral director, I get emails from a big sheet music supplier all the time, like this week when they are advertising new choral selections from Encanto. Being that I chose something from Moana for my students before (also LMM) I thought I'd check the movie out.

I thought there were a couple cool songs, but it didn't come together as a show for me.

I went in with very high hopes, given how much I enjoy LMM'S writing. It just left me kind of, meh.

The story and characters are fine, and I get why many people connect with it.

During What Else Can I Do, I was waiting for her to make an ice castle.

With the family dynamics theme, the relatability is definitely adding fuel to the hype train. (I loved it, but I’m also the perfect sucker for the musical numbers that LMM crafts.)
