Full Disclosure: I have Signal on my phone, but it is one of 5 encrypted messaging apps I have. Among those, it is the one I trust the least. I keep it around only because a few friends and family prefer to use it.
@voltronic what are your others? Are they fairly simple to set up?

The only one I'd really recommend at this point is Conversations (Android only), which I use for my XMPP account. For the server I use, there are a few steps involved but none of it is difficult.
