I have performed this piece a number of times, but never in a parking garage. Now, I really want to. It might as well be an outdoor concrete cathedral.

I was struck in the last piece, and now here, just how synergistic the interaction between the music and the hall acoustics is. The echoes and reverberations of the space enrich and provide harmonic support that makes everything just open up. Absolutely beautiful.

Yup. You don't even bother performing either of those pieces unless you're in a space that "gives back".

Really hit me in Viennese chapel listening to a string quartet playing Mozart--the performance just sparkled with life and energy I'd never heard before.
