Let's talk encrypted email.
I've had ProtonMail for quite a while. It works well. The free tier only includes 500 MB, so you have to watch your mailbox size.
I recently set up an account with https://dismail.de , a one-man operation. I highly recommend it.
PROS:
It scores a higher than Proton in a few categories.

Dismail gives you 2 GB. There is no paid tier, but Stefan accepts donations.
You can use your email client of choice.

I've been using the dismail.de xmpp chat for a bit and dig it (got to learn about OMEMO crypto) and got the email enabled yesterday. they have a simple webmail interface in addition to standard IMAP client support
since folks here ask about unGoogling/unAppleing from time to time, this appears to be a option for that

This is helpful and timely as I just bought the Blackberry Key 2 - and didn't realize how bound Android is to Google. I was trying to unApple and now I'm stuck as to whether it's best to unGoogle or unApple overall.
I'm clueless as to what "dismail.de xmpp chat" means but I intend to find out!

XMPP is the protocol...if you recall Jabber, that's what it's based on...funny enough, so is Google Hangouts...so it's an obvious replacement option for that
if you sign up and wanna test it out, there's a few CoSo folks on there, hit us up (my handle is in my profile)

XMPP chat with OMEMO encryption is included, as well as a few other neat services.
CONS:
Email setup is an extra step. Your initial account gets you XMPP chat, then you chat with Stefan and he activates your email, which had a different password.
No dedicated mobile app like Proton, but you can use any other client supporting TLS 1.2. I am (ironically) using Gmail right now. You can also use the webmail interface.
As I said, it's a one-man operation, but CoSo users probably don't mind.
