After MANY disappointing CLOUDY nights where I could possibly see the aurora.

Tonight there is again a highly possible aurora. It's going to be partly cloudy but I'm hoping to see something.

Here is one estimate. 👇

These were two strong M class flares that are hitting us together tonight

So.... maybe. It's definitely worth taking a look late tonight if your sky's are clear-ish

^^^ There is debate whether these were strong M class or X class which is 10 times stronger.

Side note: the Carrington event in 1859 remains the most destructive event to date. Telegraph lines caught fire and other damage.

If that were to happen today, all things electronic, including modern vehicles, communications, internet, phones would be destroyed.

They say these apocolyptic events happen every 100 to 200 years. Which means we could be due for one in the next 30 years. 👀

@ucantstop_me
Would love to see that!
Will be in Glacier Bay Alaska next week...

@ucantstop_me

squeeeeee! Me too! FINALLY( I refused to post the event for yet another disappointment).

I have to pick out an outfit for this event.
Going to drive to the top of a mountain for a good view.💙
