I have a story to tell at some point about my son's recovery from alc/substance use disorder.
But today I'm just gonna tell you what has worked (so far &should continue)
Mindfulness sessions with examine triggers, missteps etc and we adjust course.
AND most astoundedly Mushrooms, yes the magic ones. We started working with them in March. (Every once and a while)
No revelations until 3 weeks ago or so. He has what the call a reboot I guess but he also found spirituality like I did (w/o ๐)

Sandra, I'm really happy to read these posts. It's been a long stretch of many disappointments, stress and frustrations.
To be at this place in time must bring so much peace and encouragement for the both of you. I'm pleased to see the deserved contentment is in your hearts and relationship.
@CherNohio thank you, Cher ๐ it started getting better exponentially in March because I started applying mindfulness tool so we both could understand the triggers the emotions.
Then we'd mindfully analyze the situation/emotions and transform the neg to positive. (Which is tl;dr)
I also meditated a mantra of Peace, Love, Joy, Gratitude, Comfort, Healing, and Protection every night. On the theory that meditation affect proximity. Still
@CherNohio lol I hit send
I'm still testing the good vibes "experiment" there have been times I slacked off a bit... and there may be something to this.. so I keep doing it ๐๐งโโ๏ธ

It changes everything with those practices. Mindfulness affects all aspects of our lives. To be in touch and in tune with that benefits the core of our being and how we interact with other situations and people. Life becomes a whole new experience.

@ucantstop_me Wonderful! So happy to read this. ๐

Great news. Research into psilocybin to treat mental health has increased and results are promising. Mindfulness is another good method.
@Nimblewill I took it a few times but mind is already wide open. I had visual distortions but no new revelations because I've already been through the brain reboot through deep meditation.
But yes. This last time he was blown away. We were in the meditation room and he would speak out and I guided him a bit
it's been extremely tough road for all of us and a lot a horrors happened (I don't tend to share the worst) but we never once gave up on him, and will never give up. ๐
^^ also he's been in psychotherapy for 3 years and he has helped him so much resolving past traumas and anxiety.
This therapy is good for him. Our relationships are better. He says words now he would never say (like please, thank you and sorry)
That started changing early last year I think.
Lots going on with him and LOTS that he has overcome ๐
