You know all that epidemic bird flu?
This is first known human case of h3n8 avian flu (note: all flu comes from birds, it may jump from bird to pig to human but starts in birds) This is not h5n1 which has 30 to 60% death. We don't know what this death rate is because first human case.
@Halfempty no kidding! I used to study emerging disease and past epidemics for FUN lol
When covid hit I (and some others) shouted to high heavens for ppl to stock up food and avoid disease because of hospital overload...but after 2 years I'm not sure I am still interested in this topic! Lol!
Swell there isn't enough trauma going around.
@disk4mat I know. BUT unlike covid, this bug is not as catchy. Risk of large epidemic is low as per CIDRAP
I've been expecting this since bird flu is epidemic in birds across globe. The US has already culled over 20 million chickens and turkeys. Abd its epidemic in backyard flocks and wild birds.
I hear you. Canada is culling chickens too. It is every where.
@ucantstop_me
I will not stop masking for the year. We have pissed mother nature off.
@damselfly59 lol i won't either just because covid and mom.
Spread risk is low. Not all flu will spread human to human or at least we hope. And these really bad strains are harder to catch and so far has never been human to human.
^^ this bird flu
4 yo boy china from playing with ducks in his back yard.
Not human to human. Only Bird to human at this time
