During a series of artist residencies at national parks, Jym Davis started making papier mâché masks of a misunderstood animal: the bat.
Great #Halloween inspiration

Wow! 😍
Just don't let @Agatha see this, she's busy enough! 😉 ☝️
That's AMAZING! 😍
@Agatha @tyghebright
Thought you'd like that! 🦇
I'd love to get into mask making. I made our leather plague doc masks, but I think this kind of mask making would allow me to be more creative.
@Agatha @tyghebright
I bet it would! IDK how you'd weatherproof them, but I bet you could find some kind of spray. Polyurethane would probably be the most flexible.
I made a paper mache mask in 5th grade, it was fun! You can roll paper and bend it to create a framework, then layer flat paper over it. Mine was the most elaborate in the class, maybe the whole school! 😎 😂
Instead of using regular Elmer's, use waterproof carpenter's glue. I do that with my props that use paper clay, and it works really, really well.
@tyghebright so cool :) he's a mystic!
