When I wake, soft flesh again encases my carapace... yeilding, misshapen, vulnerable, *wrong*.
It's multiple lines in from my cryptid story condensed into one... and kinda better than what I originally wrote.
The whole story idea started from a bad dysphoria morning, where I'd been in my right body while dreaming and waking up was especially hard.

About a year ago I woke up and I felt like I was sleeping above the body, curled up in tight little ring, my muzzle resting on my forepaws and then something grabbed and I got slammed down, my eyes snapped open and I was gasping. Hard way to wake up.
