Dammit.
TV is dying.

I'm getting a rythmic crunchy static sound. Persists on every channel and doesn't improve if I turn down the volume.

It had an issue with the audio cutting out two years ago, but I fiddled with settings and it eventually went away.

I've had occasional signal cutting out, for a second at a time but repeatedly. And I have to use Roku because most of the built-in streaming apps are no longer supported, because it's over a decade old.

But I just submitted my taxes, and though I have no idea when that payment will be processed, it does wipe me out for a couple of months.

Truly not a crisis. I can watch stuff on my computer, if I can tolerate sitting at my desk.

And I can just read more.

Might be a good thing.

Well then, seems it was a software issue not a hardware issue.

I re-set everything and re-installed Roku, and it's working fine now.

Though I do think the audio issue was probably a signal interference thing because it was rhythmic and not directly related to the audio on the TV.

Still probably need to replace the old thing in the next year or two but it's gotten a reprieve.

@tyghebright i wish i could give you mine. its only use right now is bird videos for the cats.

@evistre

Ah, I watch too much. It'll be good to take a break.

@tyghebright before you give up on it, if you haven't already, move cell phones to another room. rythmic crunchy groove can be induced by nearby signal-seeking radios

@tyghebright If your area has a freecycle, you might get one that way as a stopgap.
