A very wise move by the DOD. Receive them with open arms, education, and the ability to be recognized as human beings instead of scaring them with soldiers with guns.

@tw33k I agree with that, but it doesnt help the fact that the system is overwhelmed. The request for the national guard was not for armed response, it was for personnel, similar to how they were used to staff vaccination and testing sites.

They were not armed when I got vaccinated, just in uniform.

@JGNWYRK i understand, but that is what FEMA was given the grant for. Someone who doesn't speak English only sees soldiers and may not understand and become afraid.
