Also, this is truly a story that makes me feel X/Twitter is out of control and maybe the breaking point with so many bots and fakes saying they saw Kimmel in the Epstein documents (which he is not).
@tracytran I honestly don't know what it will take to kill off X. People have been saying RIP Twitter/X for a long time. I'll be surprised if it happens and admit I'm wrong but I don't think it'll happen. I really hope my cynicism makes me look dumb one day.
@SaltyVeruca I don’t think it will die because with all its faults, it is still the best mainstream platform (besides here 😎 ) but the Kimmel fake story might be where the number of fake stories and conspiracies might be overwhelming where people had enough.
@tracytran
Yeah - I remember when the Reagan admin completely ignored the AIDS epidemic until Nancy's friend Rock Hudson died.
It’s interesting that it takes celebrities to change the status quo. Remember the pandemic when Tom Hanks and a few NBA players got Covid? Everything shut down. Kimmel and possibly the end of X. Lee Sun-kyun’s suicide is now shining a focus of South Korea’s policies. There are other recent examples, but also why celebrities matter.
