For a while, I thought getting a proper education would solve the problems we have. Now, I don’t think that’s an answer because we have Ivy League people going on insane rants. I do think people have not expanded their mind because they’re too comfortable with their echo chamber. People are either worried about their image or likeness. Not sure it’s their parents, their social networks, or the expanding outlets out there.
On one end, I understand the TikTok divestment because of Bytedance’s association with China. On the other, do we need Meta, Google, or Amazon buying TikTok? I also fault the current startup scene where companies are building to be bought instead of grow and be a competitor. There should be the next TikTok, but we haven’t seen it yet.
It’s cathartic for me what’s going on at Columbia is parallel to Israel-Palestine. You have University officials having no clue what to do with encampments and try to ask the National Guard (and they’re in the Ivy League). Then you have the “protestors” who use anti-semantic language to make their point. Yes, we need to care about Jews and Palestinians, but the people spearheading are the wrong type of people leading the charge on those sides.
There’s two extremes of free speech. On one end, you have USC canceling all commencement speakers. On the other, you have some “protestors” talking about “pro-Palestine, even mentioning Oct. 7 repeatedly. Don’t do what USC did. I’m fine with discourse, and the burden is on the individual or group who are saying these things. Let them be stupid unless they harm or injured people.
Hello #CoSoNauts. I haven’t been active on this site. I have been busy with projects and applying for jobs, but with no such luck. Still looking for a Recruiter/Talent Acquisition/Talent Sourcer role. I’m cutting it close. If you have something in the DC area, that will great. Remote will be better, but there’s a lot of competition. If your company needs recruiting help, let me know. #cosojobs
With the exception of bedbugs, Paris figured out about affordable housing. Chicago figured that out as well. Why not NYC, SF, DC, and others? https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/17/realestate/paris-france-housing-costs.html
Cities need to stop focusing on maximizing profits and get most people to thrive in an able environment.
This is actually a good explanation on the TikTok bill and I agree about more data privacy laws https://youtu.be/32ONjpOtZZA?si=grqRBvHuv-nDwA-r
My other issue is where are the other companies trying to innovate the social space
If you want to know about the craze about our current elections, listen/watch this episode on Total Request Live. Yes, that TRL https://youtu.be/XMrV6Gz8kvQ
Notice a trend on the “Palestine Protestors”: they protest in the middle of the street or going to Democrat operatives. When faced with an open debate, they refused. They then block the road where they were blocking a bomb squared to do their job. There’s also an active duty member lighting himself on fire. You know what’s next and that scares me. These protestors need to be stop.
