Controversial opinion: corporations should not have News divisions anymore. If they’re not doing journalism, it’s PR. It’s an expanded version of Entertainment Tonight. Only Public Media should do journalism. I didn’t watch the Town Hall, but from all accounts, it’s a PR stunt.

@tracytran I agree 💯 with this statement. My only concern is that without proper ability to make sensible decisions on source material, many will view public media as “state run.” The travesty seems to be in “doing the work” to make the story. Everything now is just borrowed sensationalism and opinion.

@Cashcrop you’re correct on state run. If the government figured that out 20-30 years ago, maybe we would have something. It would be our CBC/BBC, but that has been passed. Now, journal is stuck in neutral.
