The world's tallest wooden wind turbine is nearly complete — and its creators say it makes wind power way more efficient https://www.thecooldown.com/green-tech/modvion-wooden-wind-turbine-sweden/
@stogieontherun Seems like this is a proof of concept project. Given the test territory, drinking water is not the primary issue.
@tmbrown327
How many trees were killed to build it?
(I'm being a bit snarky, but this is a problem I have with so many suggestions with how to be ecological. Solar power is great, unlimited, and requires plastic and oil products to build up. We don't seem to be able to provide sustainable power without resorting to unsustainable means to provide it.)
@Jeber Article says they use a special spruce that grows faster than logging.
@tmbrown327
I can appreciate that, but loggers use that as an excuse to log old growth trees. We’ve simply never been good at preserving the planet since we invented machines.
@tmbrown327 They should rig it up to a compressor and generate clean drinking water as well. Glad to see people still investing in this stuff but an overall change in thinking is still needed. The solutions to all our issues is out there. We just need to keep pushing to get them up and running.
