Getting excited enough about foraging season that I'm digging out the old sketchbook that I was supposed to keep up with all year long last year, marking seasonal changes, but with recipes for the fam. Eldest and I loved the backyard chowder experiments last year. Gonna be a yummy spring.
(Okay, I give up. Last time I couldn't fix the pics showing up sideways even if I edited them in Gimp, not seeing a reason to suffer for presentation, you get the gist.)
Getting excited that foraging season is about to pick up. Last year I found out dandelion roots have inulin and tried pounding them fresh into tea (instead of the traditional dry roasting like a coffee substitute) and it was sweet, looking forward to a season of experimenting with this.
P.S. - Dandelions are also super nutritious in other ways. Used in old snakeoil recipes due to being a "restorative", but that's 'cause super high in vitamins A&K, great for liver, gall bladder, kidneys.
Joe apologized for forgetting to specifically wish me a happy Valentine's day and give me candy. This is because the man was exhausted at the time from driving halfway across 'murica (it's a 2 day drive from NY to OK) because he picked up a dog named Romeo to deliver him to a family two days before Vday, and then having to drive back to make it on time to go to work. I told him no worries, he was good, and I couldn't believe he didn't capitalize the fuck out of that gift. It was right there.
Abbott gave his state of the union address, not in front of legislatures, but at a corporate private event. Most press was banned and attendees had to sign NDAs. Fascism.

Thinking about how they want our period information now, and about how Walmart will track all purchases on your credit card, and about how they don't even need access to private app tracking info, just literally any store that sells supplies might be able to find a loophole if they wish to profit by making the purchases accessible. I have never been more happy that my hippie tendencies mean I prefer reusable supplies.
I have a tiny lawn (trailer park) where I have a few mother plants of species to seedbomb a railroad track nearby, but I got a bunch of new species for Christmas, so this year I'm going to be hiding mother plants in the areas between trailers. This year I will celebrate the fact that broken fences and assorted junk people throw behind their trailer means the area never gets mowed. We're going to have the prettiest junk filled alleys in the state.
There's this doll I have, a porcelain one found in a family member's attic. It was restored and put into clothing from the time period it was from. She was appraised at $4,000 USD in the early 80s, worth more now. Family wars were waged over ownership of the doll, I somehow ended up with it, despite not caring about it, and I don't talk to a single family member any more. I'm so tempted to see how much money I could raise for a charity if I promised to set it on fire.
2023 and we're still fighting this crap

Nature, science, and art are super cool. Terribly sorry for the stuff that doesn't fit.
