Dandelion roots are high in inulin, a prebiotoc, so when I grab a ton I always dig a few up for a cup of tea. Traditionally, dandelion roots can be dried and roasted, then ground into coffee to stretch it and add a bit of dandelion nutrition, but that can burn some nutrients off and is bitter. Inulin is actually kind of sweet, so fresh roots minced and prepared as a decoction can be quite pleasing. Well nourished plants should have more sugars, and these were large, so I'm hoping for the best.

They mowed the overgrown empty lot on one side of me, so I figured I better grab some goodies from the other side of me while I still could. Good call. We got a lot of rain last week, the dandelions are huge!

The callouses on the insides of my cheeks are healing, though some scars remain. I still bite them in anger, but don't taste blood anymore. I can still feel the slam and tremble of anger when I open my browser, but the effects are short and shrugged off soon, my day is not ruined. I can read the news. At times, I can even get closer to where I need to be. Compassion is the cure to rage, and it's the only way we can teach. That part is tough, but I'm at least starting to think more clearly.

This is Texas' solution to guns. Keep the evil people in dresses far away, but make sure their classic literary characters are tied to the trauma of how violent gun lobbyists have made their country.

Sundews are coming up in thick, glittery mats, and it makes me want cheese. Ever since I heard the digestive enzymes in the dew can be used as a rennet substitute, I've had a mission. Sometimes I'm slow with my missions (killed all of last year's experiment before it ever touched milk), but when I latch on like this, I never give up. I hear vegetable cheeses can be a bit bitter, but I eat dandelions, so I'm cool with that.
