@redenigma I refused to stand for the flag once, my teacher spent the entire next class section giving a speech about how unpatriotic an act that was, like he spent all night writing it or some shit.

@tippitiwichet i stopped standing & saying the pledge when i was six. i watched the news at night. i saw how those black folks seeking civil rights were being treated. my parents told me not to lie, so i couldn't say the pledge. it was a lie

@tippitiwichet it's your right not to participate. there are religions that don't allow flag worship, so their kids don't stand either. your teacher was very incorrect. it's not patriotic to pledge to a flag. it's indoctrination (and was instituted as a way to sell more flags...)
