If you did not know this blackberries will tip root. I was not watching a blackberry on my patio which left it's pot, traveled 5 feet, and attempted to root next to a rose.

@AnnetteTRemain I did know that, because there's a method of growing a living fence where you bend the blackberry canes over and pin them to the ground, then do the same with what springs up from that point. Takes a long time, I would imagine. Seems like rooting cuttings and planting them in a row would be faster.

@tippitiwichet this looks like it took about two months for it to reach ground and root. It found some sweet soft soil or it might have taken longer.

In my area, blackberry will cover and swallow a house if you let it. That mf don’t play.

@peeppeepcircus Think this was why my mother said put them in pots. Mine was off the ground in a pot and managed to find the ground. I pulled up the rooted tip. Haven't figured out where to put it. It might stay in pot in elevated location. Also, my strawberry runners have cast lines 6 feet long. I might not keep those. I had two fights with strawberries already. @tippitiwichet

@peeppeepcircus @AnnetteTRemain I planted some directly in the ground kind of hoping that's exactly what will happen in my "backyard" (alley between trailer lots). Will totally keep people away from my windows. Doesn't seem to be taking over too much, we might be too hot and dry here.

@tippitiwichet @AnnetteTRemain

there's an (invasive) Himalayan Blackberry variety around me that is basically green concertina wire.

@peeppeepcircus I'm having second thoughts about the blackberry. But I love blackberry and wanted cobbler. These things barely bloomed this year though. @tippitiwichet

@tippitiwichet On living fence yes it would be faster to root cuttings.
