Okay, so in California Dreamin' he's in a church because he's cold and has to listen to a pastor's sermon for shelter and he thinks if he was in California, it would be different. Always makes me laugh. I had to sit through a few sermons for a free meal. In California. America is America, it would seem.

@tippitiwichet I once wandered into a food bank while suffering from anterograde amnesia from a brain injury. I was waiting for a ride from a friend, and must have wandered in because it was hot.

At some point, apparently, I thought I must be there because I was working behind the counter, because why else would I be in a place handing out bags of food?

Eventually my friend wandered in looking for me. The actual volunteers thought I worked there, all of us were confused.

I got a sandwich!

@AskTheDevil Pardon me while I giggle at the actually rather concerning medical event you had.

@tippitiwichet Why not! I laughed!

I used to sometimes realize I was driving a car, and I'd have to look and see if someone was with me, or if I'd left a note telling me why I was driving.

It's amazing what one can accomplish with half a brain.

@AskTheDevil It really is. I knew a guy who went into a coma because he was meditating in a sealed garage with heavy incense, passed out in full lotus and bent at the waist, he lost his legs because of the lack of blood flow. When he woke from the coma, he was mentally an infant, had to be potty trained and all. Anyway, his short term memory was lost every time he fell asleep. He had to write down what he did every day, so he could read it the next morning. He was sharp as a tack, though.

@tippitiwichet Not being able to remember more than a few minutes at a time or having to start over - the parts you are still able to use, the active memory and processing, can get really good at their jobs. They can't make you remember, but they can get good at helping you think on your feet.

@AskTheDevil Oh yeah, and he was praying to you. Had quite the reputation in the town, parents warned their kids to not talk to the Satanist in the wheelchair who hung out downtown. He was a druid when I was around him, had been for years, literally was a different person. His brain aged normally, not at an accelerated rate. So he looked 50 but mentally was 17, so he probably did freak a lot of parents out hanging around their kids. Not creepy though, he was a decent dude. The brain is so cool.
