Hmm. If I grow a variety of native mints in my yard, they might take over, but they are natives and good for pollinators. Plus I could use them in kefir sodas and do the thing where I put cuttings in my bird's sprouts so they freshen the air now I can't have incense anymore. Also, would keep mice away and freshen the whole neighborhood every time we mowed.

Given the opportunity, mints absolutely WILL take over everything.

My mom used to plant mint in old kitchen sinks buried in the ground to keep it under control, FWIW.

@mcfate Oh, totally. I knew a coffee/tea house that was out of an old home someone planted mint in the backyard, and it took over. People would sit on the porch, reach over, and take a pinch for their tea or to freshen their breath after coffee.

Also knew a dude who planted wild mint he found near his home, it grew to surround his house. He loved it though.
