Thinking and feeling are two separate things and should happen in a very specific order if one is going to claim to be a rational and healthy human being ...
A thought is a mental process about the outside world including ourselves as an entity of the greater world. An emotion is a response that happens primarily internally.
A thought is a PROCESS OF something, a feeling is a RESPONSE TO something.
A response should NEVER PRECEDE a process, that's not logical at all, that's madness.

What I was observing at 14 was that Jason and his group of psychopathic friends hyped up on way too much testosterone were not only really dangerously dysregulated but were also seemingly incapable of any rational thoughts.
In fact, most of my peers in middle school and high school were so terrifying to me because none of them seemed capable of thinking ... only feeling and then believing that feeling was the same as thinking.
But I meet adults who believe the same nonsense.

#Stoicism is about thinking first and determining the correct emotional response (if any emotion is even necessary).
In stoicism, reason and logic are the most important tools in the human arsenal.
Emotions exist, they just:
1. do not dictate actions
2. do not exclusively control or influence behavior or decision making.
Stoicism focuses on:
1. the control of "passions"; dysregulated, irrational and inefficient emotions
2. eliminating destructive emotions.

Thinking is not usually a emotional or triggered action. It is something done purposefully and for a specific reason usually in a controlled state.
Most people can't think WHILE they feel and this is usually because of dysregulation.
Such people are incapable of thinking and feeling at the same time. Thinking is only possible for these people when they have calmed down and have control over their emotions.
Thinking, for most people, follows emotional states. For stoics it's the opposite.

In my #MediaTherapy class I talk about how media triggers feelings BEFORE it triggers thoughts which helps people understand this point more easily.
Triggers are emotional landmines that rarely involve any thinking ... they are knee jerk reactions that stem from an emotional dysregulation. (They are also warning systems from the gut i.e. gut instinct)
People don't think about their triggers, they are controlled by them and then they respond THROUGH them. No thought is involved at all.
4/
Many people confuse thoughts and feelings which you wouldn't imagine would be a thing but it is.
Thoughts and feelings aren't the same.
Thoughts are cognitive processes that happen in the mind and are designed to help us make sense of the world. Feelings are emotional processes that usually begin in the body and represent responses we have to the world.
Emotions ARE chemical yes but remember that the GUT (enteric) controls a good portion of your brain. Bad gut, bad brain and vice versa.

This was the start of a very complicated idea that took me years to work out.
I don't think I began focusing on really taking this apart until well into my college years.
I was a sophomore in college when I first started transcribing my childhood journals into digital and I ended up really reading them seriously for the first time and discovering these amazing nuggets of wisdom that I started really developing into theories and understandings about the world.
This one was complex.

And that opening shot is absolutely iconic.
Artist: Jennie

Another reason to be happy BLACKPINK is OVER ... because Jennie can be Jennie and be free to do what she really wants to do. This is a wonderful release from her. Her energy. Her joy. Her fun personality is all here. She's been really coming out more - exploding even. This is nice. Congratulations to Jennie. I look forward to her continued evolution as a solo artist. 🎉 👍🏾
ABSOLUTELY epic! I can't believe I'm only just finding out about this. Ritu Arya has a new series and she looks OUTSTANDING. I'm so excited to dive into this first episode.
If you don't know Ritu Arya ... find out. A good opportunity for you to witness her wonderfulness is in #PoliteSociety and The Umbrella Academy
Kristin Kreuk and Rossif Sutherland are giving such #WhitstablePearl energy in #MurderInASmallTown.
I adore them both and she looks absolutely STUNNING in that red dress ... 🔥
I love this adaptation of the books and Kristin's enthusiasm for it. She's been doing book read-alongs online as well. ❤️ It's a wonderful series so far.
#Reverse1999 is finally available on Steam. After Arknights, I'd say Reverse 1999 has one of the best, most brutal, most depressing stories of any gacha. Great art. Exceptional art style. Wonderful music. I'm glad it's available for PC, it's great to play on the big screen.
I've said before that the thing I dislike about the shows were the exceptional person comes in and helps the police is that everyone hates and resents that persons abilities. We have to sit and listen to everyone - usually except for one person - downplay everything they say or insult them at every turn. Why don't we just say that in #HighPotential that she has a 160 IQ and just let her do what she does. Why doesn't that shut anyone up? Why do they just let people call her "the cleaning lady"?
#Grotesquerie is also written within an inch of it's life. It is CRAFTED in every single shot ... the angles, the lighting, the sound every single thing is CRAFTED beautifully. What happens when you create something with a specific group of actress in mind and you allow them to be the best they can be and allow them to show their skills ... you get epicness.
#NiecyNash is so ... so so so good in #Grotesquerie. SO DAMN GOOD.
The book had some really interesting ideas about "alien" especially when it came to immigration ideas and the lead characters were non-white people and the alien was also a refugee ...
#Teacup is like ... it's own thing. I feel like someone read Stinger in 1988 and remembered a basic idea about 2 aliens and decided to just go with that ... or just make something up. If this is based on Stinger I don't see how ...
But maybe all will be revealed later.
