I mentioned a while back that I was preordering the #RingCarCam specifically because it's the first cam equipped with #TrafficStop recording which is going to be ideal for myself and my other Black tribemate.
When you're getting pulled over you can tell it to record using your voice. No need to move your hands to reach for anything and get shot. It uploads footage to the cloud in real time and notifies your emergency contact who can then use 2 Way Talk and Live View on their end to monitor.

I'd actually like to stream the real time #TrafficStop footage live to social media for even further accountability, not just to the cloud storage on my Ring account.
It arrived today but MAY NOT be compatible with my car due to the fact that it uses your OBD-II port and some cars have it on the right or left side (right is incompatible)
I need to check mine because I swear mine is on the right side.
If it installs, I'll test all the features and report back.
So I got the #RingCarCam installed - I lied to it about where my OBD was located. I tested everything and all the features work EXCEPT the most important one ... making sure my chosen emergency contact is notified as soon as a #TrafficStop recording has begun.
My tribemate didn't receive any notification on her phone when I tested it. I'm chatting with support now to see if this is something that it even does .
She can connect anytime live to my cam and see and talk to me tho.
If the #RingCarCam doesn't notify my shared user the moment a #TrafficStop recording has started then it's useless to me. It's important for me to know that my family is aware - in real time - when I have started a recording so they can monitor what is happening live.
Chat support was useless. Looks like I will have to call Ring directly.
So I just to follow up on this post ...
I was finally able to speak with someone competent at Ring about the fact that the #RingCarCam DOES NOT in fact notify anyone on your contact list - not even shared users - when a #TrafficStop recording has started despite what early articles about the camera detailed.
They said the notification feature NEVER made it into the final software build and they had no plans to add it.
It's RIDICULOUS honestly as that was the whole reason I wanted the cam.
@Myana I will keep it because the ability for my tribemates to connect remotely to the camera DURING my drive is actually pretty useful.
For my own security it's nice to know they can be watching the entire time. Ideally, yes, it would be better if they knew when to connect during any kind of emergency but, for now, they just usually watch me during the drive or connect randomly.
We also have Life360 for GPS tracking also. Between both, I feel a bit better about being alone on a drive.
