@Sapiens My wife's IBS keeps us from getting sausage, so I get that when it's just my pizza. Sausage and green peppers.
@Sapiens I could survive on pizza. I love it. Favorite toppings are pepperoni with green olives, because I crave salt!
@grapho I might be in love.
@voltronic @stueytheround My wife can NOT stand Vedder's voice... But I still had to show her some years back that he had, in fact, enunciated quite clearly in recording. It almost sounds like he's actively enunciating on purpose.
Then the production practically forced a reputation on him. Almost sad if you think about it. But also, I wonder how much of a hit the album would've been if produced clearly...
@voltronic @stueytheround I'm sure there's still some compression on the HD due to people liking to compress things in their production these days, while the original was essentially just analog... But YouTube (video) is also notorious for compressing and re-encoding things people upload. I can always tell a difference in my own uploads compared to the source I started with. Drives me nuts.
@stueytheround @voltronic I think "Why Go" is a perfect example of the difference in intensity too. I remember a friend talking about how, even back then, their concerts would just "punch you in the gut" with the intensity they played with, and how that never translated to the album. I think the Redux corrects that a lot. It seems closer to how their live performances of the time would sound.
Starting an Alias marathon. I watched a couple seasons years ago, and remember bits and pieces... Bought a weird artifact box set (maybe semi rare?) for 15 bucks at a thrift store, so I decided I'd finally watch the whole series and get disappointed by the ending.
I'll likely post as I go with the fun adventures of Sidney Alias!
@stueytheround Be sure to let me know your thoughts, once you've listened to enough. It's still far from my favorite PJ album, but it's bumped it up a bit for me.
@stueytheround Check out Ten Redux by Pearl Jam on Amazon Music
https://music.amazon.com/albums/B00EE40FC6
@stueytheround I believe they do. I was listening to it on my Prime Music app, and had to go find it on YouTube to share, because it's generally easier to share from there to people.
The band and most of the fanbase (the ones who don't just listen to Ten lol) prefer the Redux version. You can hear the bass and kick drum, and literally everything is more defined.
Listening to Jeremy currently and it could fit on Yield without anyone noticing the difference.
@stueytheround It's amazing what removing 40 layers of reverb can do to a song. Also a great example of what the role of mixer and producer can really do for or against a band's work.
@stueytheround They had a more recent producer remix and master the album for a deluxe edition. They were never happy with the original (record-label-forced production) and wanted it to better represent their sound. (Similar to the Beatles un-Spectoring Let It Be) It's the only version of Ten I listen to anymore, because the original always bothered me.
@JMHardin Yeah I had a couple Samsung phones for very very short spats and always had issues. One had a slide out full keyboard (years ago) and that just stopped working after a month... Avoided them ever since.
Fingers crossed, haven't had issues with this one. Also ended up getting the watch and earbuds... Maybe Samsung's quality control got better???
@JMHardin I recently got the Galaxy S22 Ultra, after decades of LG phones, watches, tablets, etc. As much as I love and miss LG phones, this thing is a legit fantastic phone. The camera is amazing too, easily the best I've ever used on a phone.
RIP LG phones.
@FrankCannon Chumbawamba wrote a song about this way back in 86. "The Candidates Find Common Ground"
