: Basements can be dumb.

Case in point: my basement. It is dumb, and it's irksome.

2/2: For my money, if there's one thing that's could well lead to some kind of New Dark Age or at least make this one substantially darker is for civilization -- as in Actual Civilization -- to give up defending itself against terrorism and violent outright barbarity because someone's feelings get hurt or because "stopping down to their level makes us no better than them". Fuck that noise.

The latter half of the 20th century learned nothing from the first half, apparently.

1/2: I've said it before and will again because it bears repetition...

There is absolutely no such thing as a clean war, one where nobody but the baddies get hurt or killed, and that is exponentially more true when it's a war against terrorists, against barbarians, against any form of hapless causehead or True Believer in the Cause.

The whole point of terrorism is in the term: TERROR. The point of terrorism is to get the government to give up/in in order for the terrorists to stop murdering.

2/2: ...another 40-60 pages, I'm gonna have to call it a day and then try to sell the book and get a few bucks back. It's a hardcover I paid $24.99 for. I'd like to get at least $10 for it.

If I have to start reading another tome today, I have plenty from which to choose. I've a few hundred TBR volumes waiting on mah shelves and in boxes.

1/2: Work in yonder basement will resume today. Trash and Recycling are picked up tomorrow, and I hope to have the lower quarters there 90% cleared and cleaned out and the stuff gone tomorrow.

There is reading to be done today, as indeed there is always. I'm not too sure about the current tome. It's a horror novel, of course, but fortysomething pages in at this point it kinda seems like the author is trying way, way too hard to be graphic and "edgy". If it doesn't start coming together in...

I just did a thing over at DonorBox (for #CoSo), to the tune of $250 (because I happen to have that to spare for a big change.) I'm not daring anyone to match that, certainly, just daring you to donate any extra amount, no matter how smol or lorg.

For me, what little was left by my asswipe of a father I'm trying to put to good use, and it's almost gone. CoSo is good use, and so I did the thing.

Do it for Mr. J, and do it for your community and CoSo frens.
