: This. 💯 this. It even happens with family and friends who *know*, though it does happen less than with the gen pop. That said, it isn't uncommon, just less common.

2/2: ...I am low- to non-verbal maybe a quarter of the time, though that is a from-the-hip ballparking and not via any manner of recording and analysis. It could be less but likely not noticeably more.

^^^^ (Cont'd.)

I also keep ~40lbs of various dried beans/legumes in my larder.

Cajun 15-Bean Soup (w/ seasonings packet) (pareve)
Lentils (mostly red)
Pintos
Garbanzos
Black
Split Peas
Navy
Kindey
12-Bean Soup (w/ packet)
Black-Eyes Peas
Lima (and Baby Lima)

Dried beans/legumes are great for meal prep, not to mention that they are tasty and a good addition to one's diet.

Oh, and fart jokes.

: How am I?

I currently have twenty-four (24) boxes of macaroni and cheese in my larder.

I keep different varieties, different cheeses and pastas. I have semolina pastas, lentil pastas, chickpea pastas, whole wheat pastas. Oh, and egg noodles.

: You may not have any real idea oh how much trouble and consternation this has caused over the decades. I was a junior in high school before I really learned about sarcasm, as in how to spot it... sometimes... mainly just the stuff I'd already been told was sarcasm. And once dry delivery came into vogue it got worse.

At 53, I'm way better at spotting it than I used to be, but that's me batting about .400.

: Folks often tell me I am too clinical, intellectual, and such, and then when they see I also inject Monty Python, hip-hop lyrics, limericks, echolalia, relevant historical quotes, Dad jokes, scientific trivia, and such into everyday conversation, including professional convos, they switch to, "You're silly and don't take this/me seriously."

: I've always been somewhat to quite troubled that the bulk of pep talks, motivational sayings and activities, especially group but definitely also individual language and activities related to self-help and positivity are deeply aggressive, even violent, and Othering and speak more to ego *against* [fill-in-the-blank] than anything else. Much of it seems very desperately insecure and sophomoric to me, which is in part why it's so popular, I reckon.

: My then-girlfriend in 2015 sent me this in 2020 and said it reminded her of me. (We're still frens. It was an awkward breakup, not a bad one.)

: This is from my IG some years back. It's another reason why I stopped with the dating and more. It's complicated pretty much every working/professional and social relationship I've ever had, and it always complicated my family life growing up and into adulthood. (Perhaps interestingly, it hasn't affected my family life with my sons. I guess that's because I raised them? I've not put tons of thought into that aspect.)
