: It's always cool and fun when I am told by any number of people that I can't possibly be autistic because
a) I seem so normal,
b) I don't act at all like their sister's nine year-old autistic stepson,
c) I make eye contact,
d) I speak to/with people,
e) I don't act like Sheldon,
f) I don't act like that creepy MF from "Atypical",
g) I don't act scared or angry all the time,
and/or more.
Alas, #AspieLife.
@dratino: Alas, that's like wanting more people to understand quantum mechanics, particle physics, and how to properly navigate a traffic circle.
@thedisasterautist I would definitely settle with more people having more empathy
@thedisasterautist This, but also 'Why do you shout-sneeze obscenities, that's super weird'
@thedisasterautist my kiddo had a kindergarten teacher that insisted he make eye contact, no matter how often i told her to knock it off, so i taught him to look at people's foreheads... i can make eye contact, sure. i've had 68 years of practice. he was 5. he was still learning coping
@thedisasterautist I wish more people understood autism
