In many ways, "Pet Sounds" was a Brian Wilson Solo LP rather than a Beach Boys LP. It was recorded while the rest of the band were touring Japan, and many of the lead vocals were done by Brian.
One of the Brian Wilson lead vocals is on this utterly beautiful ballad.

Sorry, had to.

@gshevlin

Whoa. You READ MY MIND. 😮

That said, I DO like Porcupine Tree guy's remasters...

@InUnfunky Stephen Wilson always makes tunes sound better. I have his remix of Larks Tongues in Aspic and it POPS.

@gshevlin

Hmmmm, as a KC fan AS LONG AS BELEW, LEVIN, AND BRUFORD are there...I might just have to check that out. 😉

@gshevlin

Possible conflict of interest --

I once jammed with Wes Dearth AKA John Wesley one on one and invited same to jam with my improv group, which he politely declined.

Wes was the touring guitarist for a time with either Wilson solo and/or P Tree, I forget exactly.

So there's that.

Originals are original, but I like this one the best --

@InUnfunky I sense a particular fondness for the double trio...

@t_heislen

Absolutely.

I might've mentioned that that's only time I saw 'em (St. Pete '95) and feel crazy fortunate. Also, Mastelotto cuz XTC angle. 🤓
