The more I listen to Bob Dylan.
Seriously.
Bringing It All Back Home is all good fun and right on until. Well.
The last three songs.
They're absolutely fucking *brutal*
No punches pulled and every shot connects directly on the point of your chin.
He beats the shit out of you.
Listen. REALLY stop and REALLY listen.
With your heart.
Here we go. A 3 song 🧵

Do we get a lighthearted folky break?
Do we fuck!
Next stop

Bob Dylan was more "metal" than most "metal" bands could ever dream of being and that, my friends, is why I love him and generally speaking (with the occasional exception, Mr Hendrix) loathe the cheesy covers by bands who dropped the vitriolic passion for the sake of popularity.
Sure Dylan was a necessary part of growing up.
But it was my younger sister, that took hold of his brutal, but honest lyrics. She was a goth long before that word had any cultural meaning. And she would write out the lyrics, in red lipstick, on our shared bathroom mirror.
She hated hippies. Hated jazz because it was our family's music. For a while she got lost in hedonism and drugs. But .. This is important, became a stockbroker for Wells Fargo bank.
Weird but made sense.
@corlin I was so lost in metal/rock/blues that I didn't particularly notice Dylan until my late 20s. Then it just clicked with me.
I have a confession... while all my little girl friends were screaming & losing their minds over the Beatles... I was having a love affair with Elivs Presley & Bob Dylan.
I'm so old that this was the kind of "love affair" that meant I would listen to "Lay, Lady, Lay" (SEXIEST SONG EVER) while I was in bed... fantasizing about getting married to Bob Dylan and being his backup singer.
sigh... those where the days my friend.
they ended.

Highway 61 Revisited is my favorite Dylan album, bought it when it first came out when I was about 12, had no idea what he was talking about but loved the mysteriousness of it and the music.
