The other day someone mentioned remembering chocolate coated animal shaped cookies.
Look what I found!
They used to be bigger and called Animal Crackers.
@stueytheround in the US animal crackers were always pretty tiny, anout 3-4cm. they're still made, but they aren't nearly as good as they were in the 1950s, when they were a basic vanilla flavored butter type cookie
@redenigma @stueytheround I only experienced animal crackers from the late '60s onward. I missed the 1950s iteration.
@poemblaze @stueytheround by the late 60s they were starting to cheapen the ingredients, but the HFCS didn't come in until the mid-70s
@stueytheround I think about the old school animal crackers several times a year. 🤣
