@InvaderGzim Honda Jazz 2008
Is it a transponder?
My Prius transponder broke and I ran into the same obscene price problem.
Turns out, it depends on your definition of "broken."
It didn't work because the case had cracked and the button couldn't function. However, the internal stuff (that would need programming if I ordered a "new" key) was fine.
Ended up finding a new case on Amazon for about $11. And I had a second functional key.
Best. Savings. Ever.
Here's a link...I see it went up $2. Still a bargain when compared to the alternative.

@BlueStateBabe
Oh no. I have a working key but the car only came with one as it was second hand and the previous owner lost one.
I'm looking to buy a new second key, not fix a broken one! @InvaderGzim
Remember how you could buy a new generic remote for your TV and program it FROM the TV?
Wish there was a similar (but safeguarded) method for the car. Especially if you already have one of the keys. Transponder cloning, so to speak.
@BlueStateBabe
I'd still need to get the key part cut, as it has a physical ignition key rather than a start button but yes. It'd be awesome. @InvaderGzim
So Amazon claims to have the programmable keys cheaply, and if it doesn't work, they are returnable. There are several videos on YouTube showing how to program it if you have one already.
Amazon in UK should sell the one for UK specs?
I just watched a UK video on programming a new Prius key...lol! Open and close the door X # of times, etc. etc. Like doing a dance!
@BlueStateBabe
Just had a look.
They're available but I think I'm going to save up and buy an original from a reputable source.
Last thing we need is for it to go wrong half way through a long trip.
@InvaderGzim
Stuey, is a Honda Jazz the same as the US Honda Fit?
@BlueStateBabe
I have no idea.
Unlikely.
Even if were essentially the same model, UK specs have to come up to EU standards so things are built differently.
OH MY! Funny story about why the Honda Fit = Jazz in Europe.😳
