The Power of Love
Episode two
Huey Lewis and the News (Great Scott, Marty!)
@stueytheround Celine Dion has a version, too! (and I think Laura Brannigan...)
@Martha Yes indeed*. There are many covers, but this is the original and Jennifer co-wrote it.
The three songs in this thread hold a unique record in pop music.
Three *different* songs, by three *different* acts with *one shared title* and *all three* topped the charts in the UK.
Never happened before or since.
*Celine's version is dire!
@stueytheround Ah, didn't know Jennifer Rush was original/co-wrote! Very cool. Love all three songs.
@Martha Apologies for being mean to Celine!
Her version, to my ears, has too much of her trademark vocal gymnastics. I listened to it just yesterday. It was well sung, but the technical nature of her performance meant it lost much of the passion and heartfelt emotion of the original. However. Dire, was far too strong a word!
@stueytheround No worries! I'm no Celine super-fan, but the Canadian in me kicked in. π P.S. You should hear Air Supply's version if you want to hear cringe...
@Martha Oh really! π€£
@stueytheround
