I will remember the people who are telling me that I didn't see what I saw on debate night, that his performance was good with Stephanopoulos, that I'm the one endangering democracy.

The parallels between these people and the flagrant denials of Maga Republicans are striking.

I will remember these people and that they thought so little of me.

@stuartblair you saw exactly what you saw. It’s pitiful, and awkward.

So ya gonna vote for the totalitarian lying rapist convict instead? This too is a pitiful thing to have to ask.

That it has come to this is just mind boggling.

@stuartblair I’m a Canadian, so I don’t get a vote. If I could, I’d vote for a head in a jar over Trump, just like Morgan Freeman. My concern is the borderline people who will choose to stay home when democracy needs them. The candidate has to be able fire them up.

@stuartblair

Even Biden has said his performance at that so-called "debate" was awful.

One lousy debate shouldn't erase nearly 4 years of sound policy that's helped the country. Especially when we look at the very real danger to us all of the alternative.

In a better world, this choice wouldn't be forced on us. I'm willing to work with what we've actually got in order to keep Trump out since that's a much harsher worse than Biden getting re-elected.

@Tarnagh I appreciate that and I wish that his past accomplishments in office could offset his present state, but the fundamental truth of mortality is that we all have a shelf-life. His present state is a better indicator of future performance than the past and the electorate knows this.

Since avoiding a second Trump term is more important to me than political loyalty, I hope the campaign's internal polling and donations data leads Biden to the right decision for the good of the country.

@stuartblair

It's hard to tell those setting out the scapegoat crashpads from those who confuse othering with solidarity, and getting snippy in return only proves them right.

They'll probably come around eventually after it's mathematically certain, and tell you it was their idea all along.

It's good to vent rather than keep it bottled, but also good to apply pressure in moderation. Too much, and you strip a thread.

Anger can be supportive, but also draining af.

I hear ya.

@AskTheDevil in substance, no. In presentation yes. He mostly lied as expected. What people weren't expecting was for so many of those lies to go unchallenged by Biden.

Polling shows that the vast majority had already set their voting intention months ago. The remaining persuadable electors are disengaged from politics and go on what they saw, and what they saw wasn't a one-off.

@stuartblair I thought it was more telling that the lies went unchallenged by the moderators. That's who is supposed to call out lies during a debate.

But then we don't really do debates, we do circuses and shit-shows where the candidates can just shout out whatever they feel like.
